Scientific Revolution Graphic Organizer and Significance Essay

In class the past 2 days we have taught each other about the Scientific Revolution.
- First: students worked independently to become an expert on one of 4 categories of achievement.
- Second: they worked in “expert” groups to align their answers for accuracy and simplicity. They also worked together to develop 3-4 examples of how each category is significant to today by asking “What can we do today because we know about _______.”
- Third: students moved into “mixed” groups, and took turns teaching each other about their focus topics. In groups, they also brainstormed ways that each category of achievement was significant to today’s world.
- Fourth: students will rank the categories from 1-4 in order of significance and write an essay explaining why they chose the category they did. In their essay they must cite specific achievements and who accomplished them, and how they directly relate to our world today.
Homework Assignment:
Summary Essay Instructions:
For each category of achievement on your graphic organizer, consider the following question:
What can we do or accomplish today because we understand/know about ________?
Based on your findings, you will rank the 4 categories of achievement of the Scientific Revolution. (1-4, 1 is the most significant)
Then answer the following question:
Which achievement do you consider to be the most significant to our world today and why?
Your answer must cite specific evidence from your notes, and clearly explain why and how that achievement impacts our lives today.
To help you complete this, refer to the “Significance to today’s world” form on your G.O. You may also discuss this in your groups to help brainstorm ideas.
