How to access the test review Wiki…
In case you’re not sure how to access the class wiki, here are your instructions.
Step 1 – log into your account.
Step 2 – Go to the “dashboard”
Step 3 – once you are in the “dashboard” (you will know because at the top left corner you will see the “Dashboard” panel.) Open that panel by clicking the right side of it and it will drop down if it isn’t already open. You will see the “Wiki” button there, so click it.
Step 4 – once you are inside the wiki, you are free to edit the page. Make sure you save it often in case others are working on it too so no one’s work gets erased.
Oh, and try to avoid using apostrophes ( ‘ ) or else the wiki starts adding /// … no big deal.

Guns Germs & Steel Episode 2 Video and homework
In class we have been studying Dr. Diamond’s theory of Guns Germs and Steel. Diamond claims that simple geography can explain why Europeans came to dominate the globe. In class today, you were poised 2 questions: 1. How would Dr. Diamond explain how Europeans came to dominate the globe? 2. How would Dr. Diamond explain why Europeans came to dominate the globe?
There is an answer to the first, but not really to the second. Dr. Diamond does not specifically explain the myriad factors that drove Europeans to explore, and subsequently exploit the world.

Links to video on the “underwear” bomber
In class today we spent some time discussing the failed terrorist attack on Christmas day. Abdulmutallab, the attacker, tried to detonate a packet of PETN that was sewn into his underpants. Fortunately, the attack failed. Unfortunately, the attack revealed to an extent the shortcomings of our international airline security system.
this 1st clip from ABC provides some of the best, most interesting, and most concise reporting on the story:
